LOUVAIN LAB FOR LAW, HISTORY AND SOCIETY

Created in 2024, the “Louvain Lab for Law, History and Society” (LHS) is a research laboratory dedicated to the history of law, power, justice, and regulation, examined in their many facets and relationships with society. Within the UCLouvain, it stands out for its cross-institute and multi-campuses organisation. Moreover, the members of LHS share a common approach to history, one deeply rooted in societal context. The lab operates as a unifying structure, a shared framework, connecting three research centres at UCLouvain: the Center for Private Law (CPI), the CRHiDHI, and the CHDJ.

A multidisciplinary team

The Louvain Lab for Law, History and Society (LHS) brings together faculty affiliates, postdocs and doctoral students from across UCLouvain’s many schools, research institutes and centres, to collaborate on their research on important issues in law and history, without geographic, temporal or other subject-area limitations.

Seminars, conferences and more

The Louvain Lab for law, History and Society organises conferences, workshops and seminars for the dissemination and discussion of research, the exploration of new ideas for research and the promotion of new multidisciplinary and cross-national collaborations. The LHS opens these events to the UCLouvain’s community and broadly to anyone interested in Law and History.
